Bilateral Visual Receptive Fields of Inferior Temporal Cortex Neurons




  Receptive fields of cells in area TE of the monkey inferior temporal cortex were examined in a computer-controlled manner.  Most of them were 22and extended well into the ipsilateral hemifield.  Stimulus selectivity was similar even between at ipsilateral 11and at contralateral 11.  Commissural connections between the two TEs formed patchy distribution of terminals, which may underlie the position-invariant selectivity across both hemifields.
